Case against medical image firm struck out

Legal proceedings taken by a firm that supplies 3D medical illustrated images against a rival company set up by former employees have been struck out.

Last November, Moorefilm Ltd applied to the High Court for an injunction against WKG Media Ltd, trading as the Science Picture Company, and its three directors, Eoin Winston, Eoin Kavanagh and Michael Grant alleging copyright infringement and breach of obligations of confidentiality.

The Science Picture Company was set up in 2008 by the three. Prior to setting up their business, they had worked as lead artists for Moorefilm Ltd, which trades as 3d4 Medical.

  1. Hi,

I saw your advertisement on Google ads. I think your articles are interesting but I think the information on the case of Moorefilm and WKG Media was a bit lacking. Some background on the claim brought by Morefilm and how WKG succeeded in defending the claim would have been interesting.

  2. Hi Caroline
    Sorry we missed your comment!
The case involved former employees setting up a rival firm and their former employers tried to prevent them from using images they had taken with them.
The common law protects confidential information if it can be shown that the information is a trade secret.
While an Injunction was initially granted it seems that it was not proven to the satisfaction of the High Court that is should remain.
